The best compliments to give to someone you love
Sure, it’s great to give compliments on this world day, but you should give them all year round too! And even to people who hate compliments (like me 😬). Compliments give a boost of self-confidence, and it’s reassuring to know you’re loved and supported by those around you, so let’s compliment each other 🥰!
My greatest gift was meeting you.
What I love about you is your strength of mind.
You’re an extraordinary person for your… kindness, gentleness, courage [choose according to the person].
With you in my life, I feel stronger, thank you for being there.
You always know the right words to say, the ones I need to hear.
Loving you feels like the most natural thing.
If you weren’t in my life, I’d be looking for you all the time.
You inspire me to become a better person!
I’m grateful to know you, you’re an essential part of my life!
Your smile is like a ray of sunshine, it brightens my day!
How do you do it? You’re always shining!
I love your way of thinking and seeing things.
There’s nothing I’d rather do than spend time with you.
The way you live your life pushes me to go further and evolve.
Your ideas are important, believe in yourself.
Thank you for helping me to challenge myself and move forward in life.
By your side, I’m the best possible version of myself.
When we’re together, everything seems possible.
Your laugh is my favorite sound.
I don’t know what I’d do without you. Really, so thank you for being there.
Holding you in my arms is the only comfort I need.
You’re more of a superhero/super heroine than any comic book character.
I want to grow up to be just like you.
You’re the only person I want to be with when my social phobia flares up.
You’re always full of good advice, thank you for guiding me and helping me to move forward.
Since I’ve known you, you’ve evolved so much. Congratulations on how far you’ve come!
You’re gifted at what you do, don’t worry about what others think.
You restore my faith in humanity.
Never stop being the amazing person you are.
Thank you for introducing me to unconditional love!
Don’t dos: compliments to avoid 👎
After this dose of kindness, it’s worth remembering that not all compliments are good. I prefer to stick to body neutrality, so I never compliment someone’s looks. Except maybe to my partner, because I think he’s handsome, but I’m always careful not to comment on a body change (such as a change in weight). Bodies change a lot, you may give a compliment one week and by the next week, it may have changed again. This can create complexes in a person, as they’d tend to believe they were better when the compliment was given.
And we’re so much more than a body, so we might as well compliment each other on how we are, our achievements and what we bring to others 🤗!
Editor’s note: ask your close ones to name 3 of your qualities, try it!Compliments are good for you! It’s a good exercise to build up self-confidence by asking your close ones to name 3 of your qualities. Try it and you’ll be surprised. To make it less embarrassing, you can of course ask them to do it on paper… And if you feel that you still don’t have self-confidence, you’re afraid of abandonment or many other things in spite of the compliments from your loved ones, don’t wait to discuss it with a psychologist. Together, you’ll be able to understand the reasons for this behavior and put in place new habits that will allow you to live more harmoniously. 🤗 Understanding yourself, accepting yourself, being happy... It’s here and now! #BornToBeMe |
